General Information

your photo shoot

April’s photo shoots are fun and relaxed. She is open to serendipity and the divine flow of synchronization. Children’s shoots are all about play. Events are about documenting the story. For promotional shots, April captures the real essence of her subject's personality.

where will it be?

April’s specialty is location photography. If it’s for a promo shot, the location is tailored to meet the look and goal of that particular shoot, researched and agreed upon beforehand.  Children are more relaxed in their own environment making it ideal to find a perfect spot outside in the family’s backyard or at a nearby park. April will photograph indoors at your home with lighting if desired. She will also travel to other places, such as waterfalls, gardens, beaches, or mountains, and an individual travel fee would apply.

what should I wear?

The most important thing is that you wear something you or your kids feel great in. The more comfortable you are, the better the photographs. If it is a family or sibling shot keep the styles and colors agreeable. You might also want to have several outfits on hand for variety.

how long will it take?

A children’s shoot usually takes about one hour, but two hours are allotted in the schedule. This gives plenty of time for your child to get acquainted with April letting the session become about play.  Promo shots vary on the requests. Weddings are usually an all day affair.

format

April’s camera format changes depending on what she’s photographing. For children’s portraiture, she uses mainly a medium format traditional film camera. April specializes in producing heirloom art pieces to be hung on the family’s wall as if in an art gallery. Her work is printed large in black and white using archival fiber paper ranging in sizes from 8x10 to 20x24. For this reproduction reason, April believes that the quality of film is still unsurpassed. Some pieces are sepia toned or even hand tinted. They are truly heirloom treasures, to be passed down generation after generation.

For promotional shots or candids at a wedding, April’s camera format is most often digital. Clients usually receive a CD where the images can be used easily for the web, e-mail or advertising purposes.

how much will it cost?

April’s sitting fee is $300 for children and families. In addition to the sitting fee, prints are then purchased on an á la carte basis. Fees for promo shots will be negotiated depending on the situation and requirements. Wedding photography pricing is available by request with packages beginning at $2,500.
